Single Review: The Rebel Divide – Nowhere To Ride

Things have been a little quiet around here of late to say the least. However, all that is about to change starting right now. So in a style fitting what this website is all about, here’s something brand new from a brand new band.

Let me introduce you to Birmingham’s very own The Rebel Divide. The band is made up of Andy Bean (Vocals, bass) Jon Lee (Guitar) and Dave Owen (Drums) and they make old school indie rock n roll.

Nowhere To Ride is the band’s debut single and from knowing a bit about the guys this tune nails down exactly what they are all about. If you’re looking for crazy effects and studio wizardry then you are looking in the wrong place because this tune is straight back to basics. It’s up-tempo pace immediately grabs your attention while the almost deadpan vocal from Bean brings somewhat of an early 90’s flavour to the table. I like the guitar solo which chips in at around two thirds distance and all round I have to say that this is a tune that I really like. It’s simple and back to basics but undoubtedly effective.

There will be a launch show for the track this coming Friday (27th) at The Rainbow in Birmingham, more info can be found at the band’s Facebook page.
