When an email hit my inbox titled ‘Jess and the Bandits would like to kiss you now’ I thought it was my lucky day. Turns out it was, but not quite as I expected…
Jess and the Bandits are in fact a pop/country band currently residing in Houston Texas. Only a few days ago the band released the deluxe version of their debut album Here We Go Again, which includes four new songs. Commenting on the release the band said;
“We decided rather than releasing an EP of new songs, to add 4 new tracks onto our current album to create a deluxe edition. People are still discovering Jess And The Bandits and not only will they get a taste of where we started but they will get an idea of where we are going. Current fans will be treated to some great songs that we know they’ll love and we can’t wait to hear everyone singing along on our ‘We Are Tonight’ Tour in April and May!”
One of the new tracks on the album is called Kiss You Now and it also happens to be the quintet’s new single.
“It’s a bit of a different feel from the rest of the album but we hope that our current fans will love it as much as we do. It’s a song about a girl taking the “bull by the horns’, as they say in Texas, and making the first move with the guy she wants. Full of fun and sass, it’s the type of song we love to perform! You even get a chance to hear Louis showing off his fantastic voice on this one!”
It might surprise a few people with the amount of heavy rock and metal which features on the site but I love a good pop tune and that is exactly what Kiss You Now is. It’s just a fun pop song with a distinct country flavour. I love the vocal from Jess and the song as a whole just made me smile. There’s a lot of artists out there trying so hard to make a point, make a stand and be really serious that it all gets a bit like hard work sometimes so to hear something as light as this is a welcome relief. As far as pop songs go I really can’t fault it.
