Single Review: Ben McKelvey – Morning I’m Gone

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the brand new single from London based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ben McKelvey. The track is called Morning I’m Gone and i have no hesitation in telling you straight from the off that I’m a big fan.

McKevely has played hundreds of shows as a solo artist since 2011 with some of those shows forming part of a US tour in 2014. His music has been likened to that of Paul Weller and I think that you can hear a hint of that in this, his latest single.

The thing that I love about this track and suspect that in time that I will love about McKelvey the artist is that its philosophy is very simple. It’s all about the quality of the song. There are no gimmicks, just a strong vocal, good melody, a chorus you can sing along to and well written lyrics. “I know that I fit the lock but I’m not your key” is a personal favourite.

I’ve got nothing negative to say about this track at all. The more you play it, the better it gets and that chorus that I mentioned will get stuck in your head. There really is nothing not to like!

As well as the new music and video which you can see below McKelvey has been invited to join Wet Wet Wet on their current UK tour. You can see a full list of the remaining tour dates here:
