Single Review: Nicky Davey – Been Lovin’ You

I love it when you just hear a tune out of nowhere and for some beautifully intangible reason it puts a smile on your face. I think at times we have a tendency to over-think music and we forget how to just kick back and enjoy a track for what it is.

The song that put that smile on my face is the latest one from L.A based duo Nicky Davey. Nick Green and Dave Rosser formed the project back in 2011 and it has been through numerous guises since then before the guys hit on a sound to call their own.

Been Lovin’ You is the pair’s latest single and I absolutely love this ray of Californian sunshine. Bumped along by slick drums and an acoustic guitar the track sounds completely effortless. It’s got a great little chorus and the vocal (And hat) from vocalist Green is first class. It’s just a really smooth pop track which doesn’t try to be anything more than that and the result is awesome. I love it.

The duo comment;

“We live and breathe our music and are willing to do anything for it, even walk all the way down to Hollywood Boulevard to play outside in front of people, that’s just the spirit we have”.

The track also features on Now 57 making Nickey Davey the only artists not signed to a major label to feature which is quite an achievement.

Hit the video below to check out the track and Green’s hat. I want that hat…
