Single Review: Forever Never – Living A Lie

Forever Never are a band who are really starting to make a name for themselves and it’s not hard to see why. Their previous single One Life was a banger to put it bluntly and they’re set to follow that up with the brilliant Living A Lie.

Living A Lie has got more layers than a pass the parcel convention held in a storage room full of onions. With every listen you pick up something new from the track and in the long run especially that makes it an extremely rewarding listen. At times it’s slower and brooding, while the chorus surges forward with a melodic and almost anthemic quality. Vocally frontman Renny Carroll skips through his full repertoire with consummate ease. There’s everything from soaring melodies to rap-metal as the Essex native flips through styles like Saturday night drinkers do beermats.

Speaking about the track, aforementioned frontman Mr Carroll had this to say;

“Living A Lie is a slightly slower track, showcasing yet another side to the modern Forever Never sound. This features some of the quickest vocal work I’ve ever done and has a really unique vibe helped along by the synths and piano. Lyrically, it’s another posi-rock number, about not putting a front on and ultimately saying ‘goodbye’ to all the negativity that can surround us in life”

The track also has an interesting video too which sees the band link up with US YouTuber/ TED talker Lauren Sanderson to produce a short film delving into Lauren’s short story, from an entrepreneurial teenager discovering herself, to becoming a YouTube sensation achieving over 30 million views a month across her channels.

Lauren’s message is to simply ‘Stay U’ while the song itself is about staying true to yourself so the collaboration is a perfect fit.

The band are also set to go out on the road this Spring first supporting Theory Of A Deadman and then later on The Defiled. Full tour dates below.
