Throwback Thursday: David Bowie – Let’s Dance

There was only ever going to be one choice for the featured artist on Throwback Thursday today and that is of course Mr David Bowie.

I’ve gone on record many times saying that I was never the biggest Bowie fan. I loved some of his music but there were large parts of it that I just didn’t get. It’s not that I didn’t like it, I just didn’t get it. I think this probably has a lot to do with my age. That being said it is impossible to downplay his influence over the arts and popular culture. He has left behind a legacy the like of which we will probably never see again.

The track that I have chosen is probably my favourite Bowie track. It just about shades Rebel Rebel. I think it just about claims top spot because it also features the talents of Stevie Ray Vaughan who is one of my all-time favourite guitarists. It was also produced by the legend that is Nile Rodgers. How much talent can you fit on one song??!!!

Let’s Dance was the first single taken from the album of the same name and was released in March of 1983. For me the track is just a masterclass. There’s absolutely nothing I would change about the record and in many ways it’s as fresh now as the day it came out.

David Bowie. The man, the myth, the legend. God Bless.
