Single Review: Virgin Kids – My Alone

These are exciting times for London based band Virgin Kids. Fresh off the back of releasing their self-titled EP the band are now gearing up for the release of their debut album Greasewheel in March of this year.

However, March is still a couple of months away so before the album arrives on the scene there is the small matter of the band’s new single My Alone.

I don’t know what has drawn me to this track but there is something just inherently likeable about it. Style-wise it drops somewhere around garage rock but there is some of 70’s West Coast America running through its frenetic veins. The kind of distant vocal really works and the songs breakneck pace and almost cheery ‘let’s take on the world’ attitude make it definitely worth a listen.

I’m not normally into this kind of tune; this garage rock style normally just passes me by but there’s a spark here which just pulled me in. I’m still not 100% what that spark is but My Alone grabbed my interest and managed to keep it. It’s a brilliant little track, check it out below.
