Single Review: The Vigil – Do You Feel Alive

It’s great to review established artists and the current big thing but at the Musical Outcast our bread and butter is, and will always be, the next big thing. Those bands currently under the radar, out on the road doing their thing in hope of hitting the big time or simply just doing it for love; I love you guys.

Hailing from Bristol The Vigil are Olly Smith (Vocals, guitar) Nick Rower (Lead guitar) Dom Mehigan (Bass) and Nic Appelgren (Drums). The band formed back in 2011 and have been making steady progress on the unsigned circuit ever since.

Do You Feel Alive is the quartets brand new single and is taken from their forthcoming debut album Save Our Souls which is set for release next year. The big thing that I love about the track is its real back to basics feel. There’s undoubtedly blues rock blood in the songs veins while it merges that with Queens of the Stone Age grittiness, and that is literally it. It’s nothing overly flashy, just a really well rounded rock track. The chorus is definitely one of those which grows with you with every listen and while it might not be one of those track which instantly blows you way it’s pretty hard to find fault with it. I like what they’re about and that album that I mentioned above will definitely be getting the Musical Outcast treatment.

On top of the new tune and Bonnie & Clyde styled video (Well worth a watch) the band are also heading out on a 7 day tour starting tonight. The full list of dates is as follows.
