Single Review: Conquer Rio – Be My Lady

Want me to introduce you to some seriously infectious and massively melodic rock music? Of course you do. So pull up a chair and let me introduce you to five guys from Warrington who go by the name, Conquer Rio.

The band may have only been up and running since 2011but Tom Jordan, Jake Bate, Dan Cobley, Lewis Melia and Ben Roberts have already racked up quite the musical CV. The quintet have already played the Etihad Stadium Magic Weekend twice (2012/13) the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford also in 2013 as well as acting as main support for Scouting For Girls at the Warrington Music Festival.

The band have got a self-titled EP out now and this beauty of a track Be My Lady is taken from it. The first thing that hit me about this tune is the melody. That main riff is so powerful despite being pretty understated while the tone of that guitar is just awesome. The chorus is just big; it’s made for the live arena and for singing at the top of your voice hilariously out of tune. The vocals are spot on and the productive is as always superb from Mr Gavin Monaghan. I don’t think that there is any one particular thing which makes this song stand out it’s just a fantastic package. Everything works brilliantly in harmony with everything around it and the result is a sweeping, anthem, cracker of a rock tune.

Both the self-titled EP and this track are out now and if you only check out one new song today then I’d recommend that you make it this one.

You can catch the band live here:

28th November – The Met in Bury (supporting Flight Brigade)
15th December – Night and Day – Manchester
