Single Review: Speaking In Shadows – Capsized

Speaking In Shadows are a band who have been on my radar for a little while now but I haven’t had the chance to write about them. That is, until today.

Nuneaton’s finest rock band have been quiet in the way of new material since the release of last year’s EP The Lies We Lead but they have just shattered that silence in spectacular fashion. Not only have the band just dropped a brand new single (More on that in a second) but they have also got a new EP on the way along with a string of live dates.

The new EP is set for release on the 19th of October and will be called The Anchor. When speaking about the new record the band had this to say;

“This EP has taken us back to our roots – no agendas, no concepts, no gimmicks. We’re writing music that excites and inspires us, and hope that our songs will not only engage and entertain our listeners, but also empower and encourage them to find inspiration of their own.”

Now, that single that I mentioned…  Capsized is everything which that quote suggests that it would be. In fact if the EP is anything like this track then it will certainly live up to those promises above and go on to do HUGE things for this band.

Straight from the off the track is driven along by the band’s boundless energy and the soaring vocal from frontman Adam Smith while the chorus is as catchy as hell. Something tells me that this track will prove to be a big one live for the band going forward as well; it’s just got that kind of feel. I foresee much fangirling, and singing along as loudly as possible. In short the track has got pretty much everything you could possibly want.

Check out the windswept video below along with those tour dates that I mentioned in the intro and be sure to keep your eye on the site in the coming weeks because I’ll have a review of the EP for you as well.
