Single Review: Hightower – Enemies And Friends

Doing this job even part time has meant that I have had the chance to attend some absolutely unbelievable gigs and there honestly aren’t many better live bands than Hightower. Way back last year I saw them headline and the Actress & Bishop in Birmingham and just seeing a crowd have so much fun at a gig was pretty amazing. It was a fantastic party atmosphere, and much to my delight the bands new music video has managed to capture exactly what I’m talking about.

The track Enemies And Friends has been a staple of the bands’ live shows for a while now and I’m really pleased that it’s getting an official release. Going back to that gig that I mentioned above This track was definitely one of highlights of the night.

The tune itself is a cracker. The main guitar riff is beautifully infectious and the track as a whole just has a great old school feel harking back to the indie filled days of the early 2000’s and maybe even further back to the mid 90’s Brit-Pop era. The chorus is brilliantly anthemic and will have you hitting the replay button with ridiculous regularity. I think it also needs to be said that the video is fantastic; it’s wonderfully shot for those of you who appreciate that kind of thing.

Enemies And Friends is just a glimpse of what this band are capable of, they’ve got so much going for them. Hopefully we get some brand new material from the band soon and rest assured I will be bringing it to you. But for now get familiar with this track because trust me it’s going to be stuck in your head for the rest of the week at least.
